Though I would pop in and say hello , my modelling experience is limited to say the least , but as retirement looms , its time to do something .
I have a track plan based on minories , but it will be based on the southern region , I am still debating weather to go go EM or stick ot 00 ( code 75) , as a member of MERG , I will build my own DCC base station and hand held controller , modellers licence will be used liberally...lol , expect a lot of silly question

Welcome to a great forum.

Remember the only stupid question is the one unasked!
In other words, no question is stupid if you don't know the answer and can't find it. Someone here will know the answer!

Hi Daryll
Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your visits and can provide us with details of your build as you progress.

I too am a MERG member M2067 and use CBUS now for layout accessory controls while using DCC for loco operation (Not MERG kit). I did have around eight four channel MERG DCC accessory decoders operating solinoid point motors on my former layout and they worked well, but my new layout uses Servo motors so I have the decoders up for sale on the MERG site.

Hi and welcome. You may need to make the Minorities plan longer if one decides to model in EM as EM may need longer points with less sharp curves. Is difficult to advise because EM is going to be more realistic but 00 has a greater range of availability as not everything in 00 can be converted. Having said that, if you are up for an interesting challenge and one is only looking to model a smallish layout, go for EM! It will be fun! :D

A belated welcome Daryll - Welcome to the forum. My layout is "Southern BR" with a small terminus that will hold a tender loco and three coaches - it runs around three sides of a 10x7 room, with a fiddle yard at the end of the layout. My track is Peco Code 75 which I have not found any problems with - some older loco's (pre-2000) have deeper wheel flanges and they can ride-up on points. Looking forward to see how you progress. BB
