I have been given a box of trains and carriages. One of them is the Tri-ang blue pullman. The first version. However it's missing the drive wheels and also the middle carriage. There's also a hole in one of the windows. Is this something maybe worth restoring? Is there upgrades that can be done to it?Where can I get spares from?

Elaines Trains is worth a try as she sometimes has a few spares and she does sell a lot of Triang as she was specializing in it.
Peters Spares is another.
Keep an eye on Ebay.
Also there is a Triang specialist which I believe goes by the name of Triangman.

Triang spares may seem sometimes hard to fins and at other times can easily be found. They did make so much of them that there is no real shortage. It is a matter of patience.
When you mentioned missing wheels. Is this the motor bogie or the unpowered trailing bogie?

The driving wheels are of a large flange type particularly unsuited to modern track.
If other parts of the driving unit is intact then getting spares will be difficult. You're probably better choosing to re-wheel it with modern equivalents if available.

The other parts of the Blue Pullman also have large flanged wheels (they don't like points at all and can catch on the chairs of modern Peco and Hornby track.) These are easy to re-wheel.

It is actually, Son of Triangman, SOT, who can be found on Hornby Forum. He used to have a shop, and still has masses of spares. you could do worse than join the hornby forum, and post your question. He is the most experienced Triang specialist, i know, and is always happy to help. Someone here may have his details.
