Help with placement and what is its main function.

Having bought the Ratio Oil Depot 228 and built it ...I have no idea where to place it or what function it has....help very much appreciated.

It would be near a siding where diesel locos are fuelled. Similar to this.

I considered adding an oil depot on my layout as part of the coal yard. I believe that a lot of coal merchants also sold paraffin and the like.

You can also have it as a standalone feature in a rural goods yard. Supplying diesel to local farmers. There is a very nice example on the Framplington layout as featured in the September 2020 Railway Modeller.

Thanks that was quick ....I have a Coal vendor so might place it there. Running mainly steam so a Diesel station might not be applicable. Cheers.

Nicely done Richard, particularly like the gravel base. Too clean though. ;)
