I found this on FB this morning. I have not joined the group (yet) but apparently lists names of untrustworthy sellers of model railway stuff selling through Face Book. so may be of interest to some.

I have never trusted Facebook after one bad expeirience buying something few years ago. Would not touch facebook sales. In fact I no longer use facebook.
I wish we had a good Model shop near us. I like a model shop very tempting. There is one in Carlisie about 9 miles away but it is very tiny and being in the middle of the city parking is a problem. The best Model shop up north that I know (if it,s still open) is in Stanley County Durham which is miles away from Gretna.

Not allowed to join Facebook. Heather very anti about these chat sites. My lad is a member, and tells us if anything noteworthy is posted.

Our nearest model shop is over 100 miles away, so, not practical. We look when we book a Gîte, to ensure that I can visit one. Last one was in Limoges.

I don’t use Facebook. Happy with Whatsapp. Very difficult to decide who to buy from on line, I tend to stick to those I know and those recommended on various forums. If an offer is too good to be true, it probably is.

Thanks for the link Terry could be very useful.

I have just bought a rare 3 rail diesel, electric loco, from leboncoin site. You buy, pay them, and they hold money until loco has arrived. You then have 48 hours to inspect, try it. If happy, you tell them, and seller gets paid. Loco is hand painted, so needs work, but at 32 euros, ‘twas a steal.. Leboncoin system, is superb, as you are totally protected.

Is that the one that always has a 'dolly bird' in their adverts in Railway Modeller?

I have no idea about a dolly bird. I have never noticed the ad in Railway Modeller. Must say I don't troll through all the small ads much. More interested in the layouts and pinching ideas from others. :)
