I thought I could do with reading some books on model railways so I joined my local library and found they have an on line catalogue, so i look through the list and pick some books. I was quite surprised to find they have very up to date books. And the good thing is its free.

The Library service has always been free. The whole point about a library is they have up to date books, plus some rather old ones :D

I must take issue with this. Libraries certainly have a budget to buy new books, but this is very limited, even more so these days. So it is true that most libraries can get virtually any book you ask for, they are less likely to have a lot of recent ones. Especially in the more specialist categories.

Of course they are not going to have all the latest books but ours is pretty good at getting what ever you want.

I didn’t actually mean they had the books on the shelves. Apart from the British Library.
