I plug mine in. Drill holes where the corners of the building/platform will be, put a matchstick in the holes and slot the building over them.
Platforms need to be held in place, movement could end in disaster.

None of my buildings are fixed, but the platforms certainly are. I think WTD's idea of a matchstick in each corner and pushed into holes in the board is a good idea - it does not take much to dislodge a building.

My reason for asking is the issues with lighting. Platforms are ok the lights are on top ..but the other buildings like stations , signal boxes ..ect the light escapes around the base ...so thought gluing them down would cure the problem. My buildings are Scalescenes mostley and dont lend themselves to a nice flat base. All in N gauge.

Cheers thanks for replies.

I like WTDs idea of matchsticks to hold buildings in place. I had not thought of that. My loco yard is a removable section so I need to be able to take buildings off when removing it. In daily use the buildings tend to walk around by themselves. So matchsticks it is going to be.

Buildings need a cardboard base fitting to them to stop light bleed, you can then use double sided tape to keep them in place, or even velcro.

I am having this dilemma with my platforms.
At the moment each length of platform in my terminus is made up of 2 x 4 sections of Ratio platform kit butted up against the fixed concourse on a single 12mm ply baseboard. I can butt them all up one day and the next there are gaps of up to an eighth of an inch between the three sections.
Obviously there is some movement between the wood and the plastic and I am unsure about fixing it down permanently because i fear something will 'give' so this area has come to a standstill.
