Hi all. My WD Austerity 32-252 was showing a short circuit on my controller which I could not find. It went back to Bachmanns who fixed it but did not say what the problem was. Ran ok for a month, then the motor failed, was returned to Bachmann who fitted a new motor. It has run ok for a while, but is causing a short again. So, body off for a look see, to find that it runs well with body off, but shorts with body attached. Cannot find any loose/frayed wiring or connections, but the body is very difficult and tight to put back. Any ideas please for how to fix? And also to make refitting the body easier!

Hi
Is this a DC (Analogue) or DCC (Digital) loco?
If DC is the Blanking plug able to touch any metal work when the body is refitted? Or if DCC is the decoder able to touch anything? If there is the slightest chance, apply a layer of PVC insulating tape under the plug or decoder to stop a possible short occurring.

Is there any possibility of the valve gear on one side (or both sides!) touching anything especially when going around a curve?

Thanks Brian. Its analogue. Will try the insulating tape, but will probably find the body will be even more difficult to refit. May have to "fettle" it a bit.

I used to have two of those locos and don’t remember any problems fitting the body. Perhaps something inside has moved.
