Hello Everyone

Can anyone tell me where I can obtain a track and signalling plan of the above station.

I have tried the S R S site without success

Any help would be greatly appreciated

This website has a large scale map which shows Talerddig station, siding and signal post positions in the Cambrian era.

From the left hand menu select...
Select a category, Maps hosted by NLS.
Select a layer, O S Six inch.

As the map is not very clear at full size, zoom down a bit , I had to find Welshpool and then follow the Cambrian line South through Newtown to Caersws junction and then North to Talerddig.
When zoomed in it shows the track layout and signal and mileposts.

The Lightmoore Press have a series, 'Track Layout Diagrams of the Great Western Railway and BR (WR)' and I reckon Section 60 Aberystwyth to Welshpool will suit you - only £6 too It shows the station developing in three iterations: as opened with a single platform in 1891, including the 'new' up platform in 1901 and finally 1989. Sadly the position of the signals don't appear but the accompanying notes are in detail, e.g. that the second platform was installed in 1896 but not opened until 1900, and that the passing loop was extended at both ends in 2011.

That's a fabulous web site Colin! Not for the first time I wonder if Brian could consider changeing the site's setting to open lonks in new tabs tho' as I kept having to go back to the beginning of the search when I double checked your instructions ...

No need, simply right click on the link (on a PC) and it gives the option to open in a new tab.

Here's another map site I find useful.
You can compare old and new maps or satellite views side by side with a pointer to show the same position on each map.

Chose the required right and left maps from the top menu and search for the location with the binoculars then zoom to the required level.

Doh! Typical Mac user me - and it does work on a Mac as long as you have a 'proper' mouse
