Peco motor to DCC

Is there something special about a Peco motor and controller? I am trying to use my Select Controller to control the turntable through a decoder. So far I only managed to power (12v ish) to the plug on the Peco control box. I know the Peco unit works as I have used a separate supply and the associated Peco controller and all is fine. When I connect the decoder I unplug the Peco controller. The reason I want to go down the DCC route is better(?) speed control and I have a bus wire running around the layout that I can tap into rather than a separate supply.

AFAIK the Peco PL-55 Turntable motor and controller is not designed to operate with a DCC system. It uses a Stepper motor which is not compatible with a DCC Decoder. It is powered by a separate 12volt DC power supply, which Peco recommend to be rated at 2.0Amp i.e. Their PL-202 plug in power supply.
To use a DCC system you would need to use a 12v DC motor with gear reduction and then the loco decoder is used to power the motor via the decoders Grey and Orange wires and the decoders Red & Black wires connect to the DCC Bus pair or DCC feed rails. Such motor and gearing are sold separately and one excellent supplier is Locomotech. A cheaper option is the Expo/Frizinghall motor and gear but this I understand is only rated at 6 volt operation.

My two Peco turntables are both powered by the Locomotech motors Brian mentioned. Mine are not DCC controlled, but by a H&M Clipper I bought off of Ebay. The motors are first class, turn at 2rpm and more especially are super quiet - which cannot be said for all turntable motors.

Thank you all for your replies. I have subsequently found out, from Peco, that they are, as Brian says, not compatible with a decoder. So off to buy a separate power supply.
