Hi all,
I have 3 sets of Bachmann intermodal flats in OO and have noticed the wheel sets are quite resistant to smooth running ie heavy to haul even when empty.
Does anyone else lubricate the chassis or have any tips to resolve please?
Thanks

How free are the wheels when you spin them. Perhaps the axles are not seated properly. Does happen some times with rolling stock.

Going back around 15 years ago I bought some lovely looking modern image Bachmann bogie wagons. After trying them out running behind a loco, I had issues with them. They were very well made but they were just too heavy!
The real trains were hauled in rakes of around 40 wagons long but if I used one of my more powerful central motored all wheel drive bogie diesels, I still had to run the train double headed to haul a rake of just ten empty wagons where the real railways hauled a rake of 40 of the things and they were full!
I was told with a lot of oiling and plenty of running in that these wagons did roll nicely, but mine dis not seem to have noticable friction when pushed. Their wheels seemed to roll ok. Was just their ultra heavy metal underframes that was causing the excessive weight issue.
Now I realize that the wagons I bought were not the same, but would be interested to know if the ones you have are too heavy? I usually like weighty wagons but there is a limit before the things become too heavy to pull if formed into even a half scale length train.
