We have a siding that protrudes into our quarry and my son wanted a rustic looking bridge to carry the track.
After not finding a kit that he likes we decided to have a go at making one from scratch. I bought some plasticard from Gaugemaster and gave it a go.







I know this doesn’t look like anything you would find in the UK but hey, we think it looks cool . Just need to paint and weather it now.

Wow, brilliant job. Doesn't matter that it's not something you'd find in the UK. It's your railway you do what you want

Now to the next level Gixer. Try chipping the ends of the planks with a sharp knife then brush the plank surfaces to simulate wood grain before painting (wood is not brown by the way )

I don’t quite understand what you mean with the knife but will do some research.

I mentioned to my son that the wood won’t be brown, he responded with ‘of course not, it will be a silvery grey colour!’ LOL

Then of an old plank will have rotted and worn into a jagged edge. This can be simulated by cutting knicks out of the end of the plasticard planks.

Ahh, I see what you mean, it’s to emulate the rot.
