Great Marlow Railway.

#1

Post by steel bat »

My layout started life as a portable tabletop representation of a very compressed version of the GWR terminus at Great Marlow going to a fiddleyard that I could store out of the way when the table was needed for such non-railway things like eating meals.
After I retired and moved we found the garage of our new house was a bit a tight fit for keeping the car in ...and my first thought was railway room!
The portable boards were soon set up and ever since the railway has gragually grown, first to a new board containing the branch junction at Bourne End and then round to a new larger fiddle yard.
More recently I've added an extra board to create a freelance station, using Hornby Dublo buildings with only primitive scenery in the fashion of "Hornby Dublo Style", for running my growing collection of old Dublo 2-rail stock.

I'll post a few more pics in a bit but it's taking a while because I have to reduce the file size for to suit the attachment system.

Nice modelling SB. You've created a very atmospheric look.

That looks great. It’s a strange set up. Trains go off the WR main line at Maidenhead on to a branch line to Bourne End terminus station, then reverse along another branch line to Marlow terminus.

The Marlow Donkey keeps going.

Originally Bourne End wasn’t a terminus but carried on to High Wycombe and may well do again.

May I ask you two questions:
1) What are the dimensions of your layout ?
2) Could you post a track plan ?
Thanks.

The layout has expanded about as far as it can around the four walls of my garage.
The board width at Marlow is 16 inches and 18 inches at the other two stations.
