Hi Brian - Yes, they (the Passport Office) have obviously now got their act together. My son had the same time scale as you last week - first class service. Barry

That is quick. Never had a passport due to the complicated forms and I would not cope with the airports or customs etc. Twenty or so years ago I would have been ok to cope with proceedures but even in those days the forms... I got the forms to go to France for a test as my goal was to drive the classic Volvo I had bought at the time to drive to Switzerland, and I even had a complete set of unused snow tyres on spare wheels ready... But it was not to be. The passport forms beat me! No longer have the car.
Whoever can negotiate their way past those forms as the way they were iwas either very patient or a genius!
(Think they have been simplified since?)
But passport in just a few days is amazing!

MG - the best advice is to pay the fee at the Post Office for them to check the forms before submission. Takes all the hassle out of it.
Our main PO is next to the shop I work in - the Head Postmaster tells a good story of a guy who bought in the family passports for checking and submission. He paid the fee and the PO duly found an error that required some extra info that wasn’t readily to hand. The owner of the passports then demanded a refund as he could not work out the difference between a checking fee (the service provided) and a submission fee (submission is free).
And they walk amongst us.

Agree with using the Post Office route. It doesn’t take very long, and is not an arm and a leg to do. Passport back in a week. R-

Think it was a bit more than that. Anyway, money well spent in my view. R-

Use the system that suits you best. Let you know which one in 2027 if I renew it.
