Hello,
Can anyone tell me what this set is worth? Purchased in early/mid 1980s, never opened. Great condition.
Cheers

If its Hornby, I doubt its HO scale... its more likely OO scale... both scales share the same track gauge.
for pricing, find recent successful sales on ebay etc and make a judgement from there.

I may have the scale incorrect---is HO compatible with OO scale?

But it says OO on the box.
HO and OO share the same track gauge but you will find OO scale models are slightly larger that a comparable HO model. It’s the difference between 1/87 (HO) and 1/76 scale (OO).

I would not worry too much about the scale as Hornby and triang back in the day marketing 00 as Ho in many markets like Canada. ~It is though to us in the Uk a us export model most important part is the pantograph on the middle power coach that can bring down its value if missing as they made a limited number and was withdrawn from production for another design. Mint boxed can go for a couple of hundred but largely value has dropped due to more accurate models being made recently with more modern features. But still otherwise a good model for its day

I believe it is from 1982 if I remember.

I managed to get over £80 for a rather tatty, unboxed, poorly running Hornby OO APT set. Coupling mechanisms partly damaged too. Was the original release without the black stripe on the front of the cab.
