Thinking of my dad today. He was on a Landing Craft that did 36 landings on Sword Beach. LCI(L) 379.

My dad wasn't old enough for WW2, but this lad, my uncle Doug, could have been on one of those landings.
Sadly he only got as far as Holland and was killed with the rest of his platoon in January 1945.

On June 6th 1944 my dad was in a Japanese prison camp and working on the notorious "Death Railway" - where he had been since 1942 following the fall of Singapore. He never spoke about his time in the camp.
