Twenty year ownership - Today!!!

Collected from the local Volvo dealership twenty years ago today with sixteen miles on the clock - A Volvo V40 1.8i Sport. It now has 55900 and runs like a new car. Garaged throughout it's whole life, and since 2009 has averaged between 300 and 400 miles per year - which is a standing joke with the MOT centre. They say Volvo's last forever?
The eagle-eyed amongst you may notice the front passenger door looks a slightly different shade of silver? A spade fell over in the garage and scratched the door - Chips Away dealt with the scratch, the colour is the correct one, but the paint on the door is a year old against the rest being twenty years old and probably faded slightly.

It does Brian. I'm not sure many people have sat in the back - the black leather interior looks like new. In 2004 the local dealership "bought" fifty V40's in either Silver with Black interior or Black with white interior - they were the run-out models as production of this shape V40 stopped in 2004. It's automatic and really does drive like new. The downside to cars of this age is the road tax - as I said earlier it has a 1.8i petrol engine and the road tax, which I paid yesterday was £415. The strange thing is that despite its age, it is ULEZ compliant. We put the semi-personalised plate on it (mine and Pam's initials) as soon as we picked it up. Hopefully it will go on for a few more years :)

Emission assessment is an odd thing as almost any 2007 car will be zero or low road tax but the identical model the year before or after will be full whack. Even 2l diesels can be in the £30 bracket - completely nuts.
