Totally agree Caiptean and those on the Hornby forum know all about the problem you have highlighted. I’m sorry to say that after about 8 years it begins to wear you down. I have personal dealings with this problem.

I had about 5 boxes of those relays but got rid of them a few years ago. I was told I could have them when I trained as a GPO engineer in the 60's. Not sure what I thought I’d do with them.

I used to be a dab hand at adjusting relays, making sure the contacts touched at just the right tension.

Yes I did a three year apprenticeship but my heart was with aircraft. When they decided after 3 years to let me specialise in the one section I didn’t enjoy I was off.
