Wire connectors

Hi all, I’m just wondering what everyone uses for making non-permanent connections in the smaller wires on you layouts - you know where you might have to remove / replace something in the future. My go-to solution is bog standard 3A connector strip from toolstation and the like, but I don’t find it that easy to use given the connector holes are huge compared to the wire diameter and especially where working under the baseboard, not easy to make a good connection.

yes that's the sort of thing I was looking at, will they work with say 16/0.2mm wire? I suppose you an double up the ending if they didn't.

Yes, they will even grip 7/0.2

For the thinner wires across baseboard joins I use either male/female inline din plugs or male/female inline 25 pin serial type plugs.

If the wires are too small for the screw terminals on the O/P's current connected he could always start using ferrule crimps, I found when I stated using them that they greatly improved the connection in the likes of the chocolate block connectors I use for 12v power distribution for the lighting around my layout and it made it easier to get them in the connector when working upside down or are the far end of the layout , which was something that almost proved impossible with just twisted bare wires

I use bog standard connector strips too but bare enough wire to double it back. I like to keep things simple whereas my wife says I'm just simple!

Thanks everyone, some great ideas here, I've ordered a few types of lever fittings to see how I get on with them. I've also recently bought a ferrule crimper and that certainly helps with the connector blocks.

As well as Wago there is a similar connector by Ideal which works equally well in my experience and which are usually cheaper .
