Re: DCC Starter package.

Just a suggestion . . . Instead of buying a 30 year old design / technology NCE system why not go for something a bit more up to date? Maybe the nèw Signatrak Ace 3 which they have announced is due to start shipping within the next few weeks. The Ace 2 was good but the new version is much improved, ...

Re: 89121 Heljan Electronic 90ft Turntable DCC Ready

I have had two Peco turntables operating on my layout for almost ten years. Both powered by Locomotech motors, and as WTD said - they are almost silent in operation - they turn at 2rpm. Both turntable and motors are first class products. The only downside is that you have to line up the tracks by ey...

Re: GM Seep or Rails PM ?

Hi all, Currently forward planning my next layout, and due to around 30 points in the current plan, would be looking at Seep point control to keep cost down. I wondered how reliable are the GM seep points, or what looks to be a variant of the Peco version made for Rails by DCC concepts ? (the Rails...

Re: GM Seep or Rails PM ?

Hi, I just noted that you mentioned Hornby point levers (R044 Black). Please note that these do not work at all well with a CDU due to their very dated means of working the momentary switching, See my web site for further explanation about this lever and a CDU. https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Electr...

Re: kadee couplings - I have some questions.

This leads me to several questions: 1. Are all the kadee couplings magnetic (even if they dont say "magne-matic" on the box) and what does "no draft gear" mean ? 2. I only see the magnetic track un-coupler in code 100 or 83, do they not do a code 75 one ? 3. What are the part nu...

Re: kadee couplings - I have some questions.

They should be a standard height from the rails but as to their relationship with the buffer, well that is a moveable feast. I bought a selection of couplings to experiment with before establishing what was 'right' for my locos. I tend to use the longer versions but have enough of a collection of lo...

Re: kadee couplings - I have some questions.

I believe there is a height gauge available for kadee couplers aswell which will help visualise whether the couplers on srock and locos are at the same height and would ensure that any discrepancies in height would be dpotted so that they can be fixed. I'm not sure exactly what year or issue number ...

Re: kadee couplings - I have some questions.

Hi - I use Kadee couplers and the magnets - you want Code 83 (#322) magnets for Code 75 track. As has already been said, 17,18,19 and 20 are fine, but you may find on occasions, that a mix will give you an acceptable gap between say tender and coach without the problem of buffer-lock - I have severa...

Re: Bachmann 57xx Pannier

Although you don't say what decoder you're planning on using, these guides cover the techniques:https://www.youchoos.co.uk/Index-Resource.php?L1=Guides&Item=BachmannPannier It seems there are a number of models from Bachmann that fit the title so they've included them all (at the time of publish...
