It runs quietly and smoothly. This one is a replacement as the first one I was sent had assembly issu...

Re: Laying track on styrofoam
I agree with Tricky Dicky regarding the use of foam for layouts, it’s a relatively new approach but can be made to work well as the range of Woodland Scenics products prove. I have made a few layouts with styrofoam baseboards and have done as Mountain Goat suggests and put the wiring through plastic...

Re: Mini Heat Gun
Do you think this type of heat gun would work for shaping and smoothing polystyrene? I have seen chefs mini blow torches used but this sounds as though it would be safer.
The technique used is to cut the polystyrene using a hot wire cutter and then smooth the contours with the blow torch.

Hi, Lima was an Italian company that made model trains from quite a number of countries around the world including the UK. When it closed the tooling was bought by the Hornby Group. I lived in South Africa for over forty years and know a little bit about Lima SAR stock, it was only made for a few ye...

Re: Won’t be trying that again!
I hope your eBay issue is resolved soon. As a note to any prospective sellers, don’t even think of sending anything to South Africa! I’ve just returned to the UK after living there for over forty years. The postal service is a nightmare with widespread theft and frequent strikes. The only way to get...
