Re: How do operations work on this track plan?

You might like to take a look at some of the notes I have posted in response to your "operating and signals" topic of a couple of years ago... I slipped up about the dates... :? I did wonder how you had apparently gone from this question to the layout there... :? However, some of it...

Re: Question about operations on my layout / signal positions

Given that you have goaded me into waffling... (Albeit a couple of years ago...) (Other people might like to have a look at some of the other possible information...) Assuming that you go for a Down Bay (with wild, eager enthusiasm) the points into it would have a Facing Point Lock - which would hav...

Re: Question about operations on my layout / signal positions

OOPS!!! :o
I thought that the latest posts were at least this month...
Anyway - I love waffling - and the notes might be useful for other people looking at developing a similar layout.
The Forum seems to have been horribly quiet for some time. A great pity.

Re: Question about operations on my layout / signal positions

Realising that you might well choose to happily ignore my previous suggestions... I noticed your question about platforms under bridges. This could enable you to add a short Down bay platform without changing the points already laid. The idea is to push the Down Platform (1) in the Down direction un...

Re: Level crossing

A bit of a late reply... But... Level crossings can be all sorts of curved and skewed angles - even when gated rather than barriers. Neither gates nor barriers have to be parallel to the track nor at right angles to the road approaches. Barriers in particular can be set quite far back away from the ...

Re: Question about operations on my layout / signal positions

By the way... You need an FPL going out of platform 3 to the Up Main or the Headshunt. Position of Signalbox... "Strictly" it should be next to the Running Line - i.e. on the Down Side. With a conventional MR / LMS / BR-LMR "front frame" this would put the frame right way round f...

Re: Question about operations on my layout / signal positions

Signalling... Assuming Absolute Block and Semaphore signals. This is most likely for the 1950s. (It's also much more fun). Also assuming that you don't run "Bang Road" from the junction... 1. Adding a Down Bay (not essential) would add the points and an FPL. Being Midland/LMS this might be...

Re: Question about operations on my layout / signal positions

Hi :-) Looking through this topic I see an "issue" at the start. You propose to run a branch train "Bang Road" Down the Up Line from an off scene junction (an unknown distance away). This is extremely unlikely to have occurred in the 1950s - especially with Absolute Block and Sem...
