How much weigh to add to locos and stock.

Evening gents. Ive been away from the forum for a while, me and my son have been just playing trains and having fun, but no building has been going on. He's now 3 and he's really getting the hang of operating his simple layout. Along with that has come his insistence than he decides what we run, whi...

Re: Hornby "Bill" damaged chassis

I've been keeping an eye out for Hornby thomas characters for my, I mean my sons layout, and they are quite expensive especially now that they are out of production. Have you tried finding out what non thomas loco yours shares it chassis with. Little 0-4-0 go for pennies sometimes on ebay and then y...

Re: More problems with 'Gordon'! Need strange size traction tyres.

Hi. Thank you for your offer. If you know of a source or even just which ones fit I will probably get some spares. I dropped "him" down to Lord and Butler in Cardiff and they sorted it out Martin found a couple of tyres that fitted. I meant to ask him what ones they were in case it happens...

Re: More problems with 'Gordon'! Need strange size traction tyres.

I bought it last August but it didn't get used until just before Christmas to check the layout worked before the big day. I had problems initially so emailed Hornby and they weren't very helpful, just said take it back where I bought it or send it to them for repair, which I know is fair enough but ...

Re: More problems with 'Gordon'! Need strange size traction tyres.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going down to Lord and Butler in Cardiff to see if they have any and to get some other bits and bobs (this 'simple' layout just for my boy is getting a bit addictive!). If not then I'll order some from Peters spares and give them a go. I'm starting to remember how much a ...

Re: Royal mail coach set.

Mine is olay it runs across all the points fine now i just put a small flat on the bottom of the lever bar when it fowled on just one point. I suspect that’s what I may end up doing. It’s the one thing I didn’t get running ready for my sons Thomas layout for Xmas so I’ll give it a go this weekend. ...

Re: Royal mail coach set.

Does your coach run properly without the little feet things fouling the tops of the track and points? I've got one that came with a 'Percy and the Mail Train' set and it seems to foul on everything. I may try taking it apart and seeing if there is anything that can be adjusted.

More problems with 'Gordon'! Need strange size traction tyres.

Well less than a month in of the new layout my 2 Yr old sons favourite, Gordon, is playing up again. This time it has shed both of its traction tyres and so won't run at all now. I've tried refitting them but it seems as though they have stretched slightly, or maybe they were never a good fit, which...

Re: Thomas themed layout for my 2yr old

Oh, and we won't be doing much playing for a week, at 8 tonight we're on a plane to Tenerife, so there'll be a bit of radio silence.

Happy New year everyone.
