Re: Hornby BR(S) Green Bulleid Composite.

I would keep an eye on Ebay and perhaps have it email you when one of these turns up. A couple of days ago a set of 3 with the composite in BR colours went for £46. The BR and SR versions are the same colour, so you would not need a repaint just a number change. I have bought the 4 Bachmann coaches ...

Re: Britannia class 7MT

Hornby did start moving the DCC socket to the tender after 2006 for many models, and this included provision for a speaker. I have 70004 as shown in that guide and it indeed has the socket in the tender. I also have both loco-mounted and tender-mounted models of Bulleid Pacifics, King Arthurs etc. I...

Re: First time bulding railway in shed .. good practices ?

My layout is in a properly converted loft and is 36x10ft. Neverthess being at the top of the house it still gets hot in summer - got to 39C when we had those record temperatures a while ago despite having all the roof windows open. All my track is Peco code 75 Streamline. I just use a small ribbon o...

Re: SEEP Motor with Peco Electrofrog code 100 points

Alternatively use a Gaugemaster GM500 wired with the point to change the polarity instead.

A lot cheaper than a frog juicer.

Re: track control

I know this principle works in OO but not sure about N gauge, that if 2 insulfrog turnouts are being used in a crossover formation from 1 track to another, no extra isolation from each other is required. As Brian said earlier, if the two tracks are being operated independently, ie each with their o...

Re: 3 Way Asymmetrical addressing

It's not strictly a 3-way point but 2 ordinary points partially overlaid on each other - hence asymmetrical. Unlike with a true 3-way point, each point can be independently switched. I have several of these turnouts on my layout, and on my switchboard have them simply represented as individual point...

Re: Stuttering while going over points - Spark

Nothing wrong with Insulfrogs with DCC. The problem is being caused because a metal wheel is touching both frog rails, or both closure rails, as it passes through. Simple solution here would be to put insulated rail joiners on the two frog rails, and make sure there is a DCC feed downstream of the f...

Re: Stuttering while going over points - Spark

Had another close look at your video. You can see that when the stutter occurs there is an axle precisely on the frog. The momentum of the loco carries it past the spot so the DCC command station does not trip. I would try running the loco through the point very slowly which should result in a DCC s...

Re: Stuttering while going over points - Spark

The spark is indicating a momentary short circuit. It is likely caused by the wheels touching both rails as they pass through the frog. Check the back-to-back measurements of the wheels as this is the likely where the problem lies.
