Hello Glencairn
The square chimney work's really well in this industrial area. I like the way that you have created height within the scene. Like most industrial sites up is the only way to expand.

Hi Dublo. Thanks for your comments. The chimney is the tallest part of the layout now. I do not think it overpowers it though.

The fiddle yard. The track plan is part of Lybster Station (near Wick) When I feel like it I can run trains 'the other way'. Sovereign Street becomes the fiddle yard. It gives me 'another layout'.

The three badges lying in the yard are for my grandchildren. The badges say 'Station Master', 'Engine Driver' and 'Signalman'.

Nice idea, two in one, clever use of the space. I wonder how many others wish they had thought of that.

Thanks for your comments, jaz.

With the running of diesels as well, I have three layouts on the same track plan. Thus giving great variety.

Long before the area of Sovereign Street and The Calls became fashionable apartments, restaurants etc. etc. I, as an eight year old, would travel from Dewsbury to Leeds, alone. Get off the bus at the terminus in Sovereign Street and walk along Call Lane and The Calls on my way to the Leeds City Transport bus station, past The Market. The street lighting in Sovereign Street etc, was dim at its best. At seven o'clock on a winter's evening one did not loiter around.

Evening time on Sovereign Street.
