Hello from Wiltshire

#1

Post by Doodge »

Hello, I’m just getting back into the hobby after many years on the outside looking in. I have a 6x4 table and had initially decided to go oo gauge. I have enough track for a couple of ovals a couple of loco’s and a DC controller. I am already thinking I may have made mistakes lol. I’m thinking that perhaps I should have gone with N gauge, for the space and DCC. Expect lots of questions, apologies in advance!

Welcome to the friendly forum. Lots of helpful and some funny (Ha ha) people on here. 6x4 does sound small for OO. Have you thought of an end to end with perhaps a removeable fiddle yard? The secret is don't try and cram too much track into your available space.

Welcome. It is a friendly group on here with lot's of advice.

Everyone has their preferred style of course, but as already stated 00 generally requires more space than 6'x4'. It is possible however with some thought and dedication.

This has been shared recently in another thread, but in case you missed it here it is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0ML_YAdRDo

And another with only a few extra inches : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw25a4m0k08

skip through to 4:30 for the actual layout :)
