New mini layout
Re: New mini layout
Remarkable layout, so much in so little! I believe I saw a loose dimetrodon lurking beneath the viaduct...waiting to
mug someone??
mug someone??
Re: New mini layout
Hi all.
I found the dinosaur while looking for vehicles for the layout. I managed to buy a job lot of suitable vehicles so they will be placed on the layout soon.
In the meantime I have bought some more stock for the layout as below.
Jouef Decauville set
Minitrains Baldwin mine car set
Original Eggerbahn Diesel set.
And something different because I also like H0m.
Zeuke set from about 1965.
Regards, Colin.

Re: New mini layout
Love the mine set, what gauge is it?
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician
Re: New mini layout
Hi. The Jouef , Minitrains and Eggerbahn sets are all H0e ( 9mm gauge).Love the mine set, what gauge is it?
The Zeuke set is H0m ( 12mm gauge)
All to 3.5mm/foot scale.

Re: New mini layout
I have only just looked at this thread, the locos etc look interesting, what era are they? This looks like it will be interesting as it appears much older than the usual fair.
Re: New mini layout
Hi Jaz.the locos etc look interesting, what era are they
If by "era" you mean the years when the prototypes ran then they could be from any era from the early 1900 s until the 1950 s because narrow gauge locos were built and used over a long period especially in the eastern bloc.
But if you mean when were the models produced, the Eggerbahn models are from before 1970 which is about when Jouef took them over so the Jouef and Jouef produced Eggerbahn models are from post 1970. The trolley busses are all from the early 1960s or earlier.
Hope this helps. Regards Colin.

Re: New mini layout
So interesting on two fronts, classic builds, and an older era than one often sees. I will look forward to see more on this one Thank you for replying
Do I also assume you will not weather these lovely locos either as I assume they are basically classics now? Thus keeping them true to their original sale point? Plus being older even the steam engines were often kept well cleaned to a void wear and tear. I understand night cleaning was popular so when they ran in the day they started off cleaning in the morning building up dirt during the day, going through tunnels often increased the dirty look as the steam and ash was in an enclosed space, i made the mistake of looking out the window going through a tunnel on a steam Loco, and quickly ducked back in again!

Re: New mini layout
I will keep the stock in box condition because many are rare and I do not want to alter them.
As you say there was often a pride in narrow gauge stock and they were kept in good and clean condition by their operators which is another reason for not weathering them.
The layout is now finished except for some fine tuning and placing of vehicles.
I have some wood left over so I may measure the car with the rear seats down this time and after the pleasure of building this layout think about building another for my H0m stock which could include Bemo, Liliput and Zeuke items . Overhead electric and transporter wagons as well as steam.
I added a trolley bus circuit on this layout and have enough bits for another but I will resist the temptation to add a Monorail !!
