A life time ban from that "other place"...

#1

Post by Guildman »

Because this forum is a bit slow, I tried to re-activate my membership of another place, but although I was kicked orff in March 2010(!!) it says I'm still banned!
What an honour!
No idea why that pompous little twit banned me. Not sure I even knew at the time. my memory for unimportant things is about 3 weeks, if yer lucky!

Seriously though, folks, considering so many were in the same boat, is there a general feeling for why this forum has gone a bit slow by comparison? I thought the other one would have died altogether by now.

Could be that we have been busy with other things and that is why new posts have been slow. I have some catching up to do myself. I have quite a lot planned, but I am catching up also with other things, as the last couple of months I have been a bit fragile, so I have not done much at all. But I can feel things improving slowly... So hopefully I can clear the backlog of little things I have been putting off for so long and start to work on my layout again, along with a new design of waggon. :)

So it could just mean a few of us have faced various things at the same time... Now the winter is coming along many will be back modelling again.

This forum is not particularly slow - forum activity ebbs and flows - some days are more active than others. From past experience all the forums go quiet in the summer and tend to pick up over the winter months.

My preference for posts has always been quality over quantity and as such one post that educates and provides something I can learn from is worth far more than pages of endless drivel. Others may feel differently.

Very surprised that anyone thinks this forum is slow. I find it excellent, compared with others to which I belong. To be banned, surely would be for a major rule break. There was a guy from Yorkshire banned from Hornby forum, but he was so rude, that even his wife, would have banned him.

One is amazed to say a Forum (any of them) is 'slow'.

Personally, I find , like Steve M, forums go quiet during summer because of holidays etc.. Then as winter approaches 'things pick up'.

Many a day one could think things are quiet, but are they? I posted some photographs recently (four days ago) Over fifty viewings already. Other pictures are at the thousand viewings mark.

Any forum is only as fast as its members postings.

We get sound real-world advice on here and no-one is ever pompous or deprecating - worth an awful lot I think.

Totally agree with all of the above. Great forum, full of help advice and friendly banter. If it does go slow it's not only because of the summer it's because we are putting into practice the tips and advice we've picked up on here.
