I too read every post (well most anyway, I tend to ignore posts about cruise ships for example). Regarding comments, if I find the subject matter really interesting, or attached pictures display considerable talent (eg better that I can do ), I will say so. Otherwise I pass on.

In the past many well meaning opening posts have just turned into a lengthy interchange of who can make the funniest "quip" with so many digressions one forgets the original subject matter entirely! Thankfully I haven't seen quite so much of that lately which may be the reason the OP feels the forum has slowed.

A forum is after all a platform for like minded people to share ideas and ask questions. When there is little of substance to share and the questions have dried up, so the forum "slows", but everything happens in cycles so keep watching

I tend to take the impression of slow from the apparent number of new posts, or the lack of them, rather than "quips", although they can be amusing sometimes. There are some wits out there.
My trouble is, I'm impatient. I expect people from all over to comment usefully on every topic. I tend to sit here at the PC during tea breaks or after a meal and look to be occupied by it. Then, I'm either in the cumfy chair for something good on the telly (rare!) or back in the workshop.
I'm surprised to see nothing on the scenery threads for 5 days.

It seems scenery, as ever, is the poor relation in the hobby.

On my layout (Steam trains to Sovereign Street/. Diesel trains to Glenburnie). scenery is certainly not a poor relation. It is paramount. It’ not perfect by any such imagination, but I love to see trains travelling from A to B through scenery.

Maybe I shall post an article in the scenery section

i think i am in the minority, as apart from houses, telegraph poles, signals, etc, have no scenery. Many years ago, when i had few locos, had mod roc tunnels etc, but today, with 15 running loops, and over 100 locos, have no space. My priority, is running trains. Scenery, would limit size of track. Coupled with that, am constantly changing layout. Trying different setups, is far more interesting to me than ballasted track, which would be a pain. Thats why hobby is so diverse, some model , some never change what they have. I would find that very boring. It would help if i could decide, my preference, Z, N TT, 3 Rail, 00, ho, DC or DCC. An old friend Graskie, who is no longer with us, once advised me to sell everything, and start again, concentrating on DCC. Might have been sound advice. john
