Don't do yourself down re: your painting skills - you're having a go and therefore its all your own work. A tip might be to use much softer/less distinctive colours followed by a light wash/dabbing over using a very very light grey-white to give distance/depth and to make everything less distinct.

Luke Towan of boulder creek railroad on you tube uses plaster of paris to make rock faces... his waterfall and lighthouse dioramas are excellent.

He also use the same moulds BB used.

Just fiddling around putting some embellishments on the tunnel mouth today. All from the scrap box - so it will not resemble any tunnel portal you have ever seen. I'm pleased with it though. R-

I think it looks fine. I did find one almost the same but didn’t have the keystone.
