BST - GMT

It seems that unlike the old MRF this one does not switch automatically from BST to GMT. If showing the correct time is important to you the setting can be altered in your own Control Panel. When Admin. Brian sees this he may well be able to make a universal adjustment. R-

Mine has changed automatically.. You need to use the 'User Control Pane'l' located by clicking on your name (Top right) and then ensure the settings are as per my that I've marked 5 & 6 for UK residents. Other countries need to use the drop down selection tools to set their own region.

What's this I read here in Aus that the EU is considering switching permanently to summer time? That's going to complicate Brexit

We’ve been considering that for years in the UK. Europe is always an hour ahead of us so we are used to them being out of step.
You may not know this and probably aren’t the least bit interested, but aircraft departure and arrival times are always GMT worldwide. So an aircraft taking off from Perth WA at 2000 would be told it was airborne at 1200.

Blimey, that sounds complicated. I’m sure it isn’t when you get used to it. I’d have to have about three watches (I don’t wear one at all) to keep up.

I think the UK should go to GMT (or UTC I believe it is also known as) and stay there. I could make do with two watches then.

In warships the operations room (and sometimes other areas) always operates in Zulu time (GMT). This provided consistency when talking or operating with forces around the world. As a ship sailed from the UK around the world and passed through time zones the ship would change to local time with the ops room remaining in Zulu. It could at times become very confusing

We had two clocks, one local and one GMT. Always tried to go home using the GMT one.
