Thanks Chops, your kind words are much appreciated. Here are a few more scenic views from Friday's photo session. I hope you like them.





The miller is a 1970s Airfix 'wild West' figure and the Scottish Highlanders are also Airfix (Battle of Waterloo). Even the cows are AIrfix survivors from the 70s. I wonder if anyone bought the moulds when the company went bust in the 1980s. The quality of the modelling is superb.

Mainly WW I and WW II figures, but can be still had. Airfix are part of Hornby now. (I thought I remembered that from the TV mini-series about Hornby).

The figures are a little oversized at 1:72 but some are 1:76

Hornby took over Airfix 14 years ago.

I know that Dapol bought the moulds for the railway buildings and figures. I've got some of the originals and the Dapol ones on the layout. I've also seen the WW1 and WW2 kits on the Hattons website still using the Airfix label (as IanS mentions), but Airfix's range of figures (and animals) was so vast I'm wondering what happened to all those.

I have boxes of the old ones somewhere.


They have changed the base, it’s not a thick square block any more.

Just gets better and better. The bag piper and colors on the tower is brilliant; one of a kind.

Like I said, WTD, only twelve products. Perhaps the other moulds were scrapped or Hornby own them but don't produce from them. Or maybe they were worn out.

I'm glad you like that photo, Chops, I think it came out well. To get the sky-coloured background, I draped a light blue sheet over the back of a chair. As the camera was focused on the foreground, I got an atmospherically unfocused sky.

Lovely photographs, IanAlan. You like four wheeled coaches as I do.

Hi Glencairn, yes, the four-wheel coaches are cute. They work well on my quite small roundy-roundy layout, which only has very short straight stretches of track, and includes first and second radius curves. I remember commenting in an earlier post about the over-hang that the longer eight-wheel coaches have. Obviously, the eight-wheelers look great on a layout with more straight or gently curved track. Having said that, I'm happy to run the long ones on my two third radius circuits, especially when the Flying Scotsman is doing the pulling.

Here and There on the Railway






These may be the last photos that I upload from my photographic session from the Friday before last. I took several more that almost came out well, so I'll have a go at retaking those with a few adjustments, hopefully, in a few days.
