Info sought on the Oxford to Princes Risborough Line

#1

Post by Tallpaul70 »

For an upcoming 00 gauge model, I am looking for information on the Oxford to Princes Risborough line, in particular Thame, in the period 1958-63.

I have the R A Cooke section 27 plans, the Middleton Press book and the Richard Lingard Book, plus all the GWJs. o what I am after is the more obscure magazine articles and personal memories?

I am also aware of, and awaiting the arrival of the C.R. Potts book!

Any help will be much appreciated

Many thanks
Paul

Hello Paul,
nice to see you have chosen the best to model.
The cooke track plans are very good -I used them to build my 65feet long model of "The Exe Valley " line
now 40 years ago !
Re Thame -excellent photos ,line history etc is in
Historical survey of Great Western stations -layouts and diagrams. volume 3 by R.H.Clark.
page 193.
also see - railway mag. 1933 (vol 73) pages 157-164
railway world 1962 vol 23 page 267- for station history.
the princes risborough -thame-oxford railway by R.Lingard- pub by OPC.

similar for princes risborough see
Historical survey etc etc vol 1 ( as above)
railway mag 1955 pages 739 - 745 and 863 - 868
regards-Geoff- trust this is of use.

Thanks Geoff,
I should have included the Historical Survey of Great Western Stations in my "got" list!

However, the Railway Mag/World references are useful, so thanks for those.

I also have to track down Bill Simpson's History of Oxfordshire Railways, which I am told has useful content.

Regards
Paul
