The 205 is made of metal. I suppose it might last longer. Would have thought most people would use the height gauge on a spare piece if track not the layout .
Might be trying them myself some time.

While adding the detail pack to a new loco I thought it was time to start switching back to Kadees so I dug out the box of bits.
What did I find in there - a bl@@dy plastic, insulated height gauge! I don’t remember buying that.
Confirmation, if it were needed, that I have lost the plot.
