help with old eyes.
Re: help with old eyes.
Rob, hi, yup, varifocals, dont cut it.. I have an Expensive, headlight, that affects low flying aircraft, that heather bought me. I use that in conjunction with head magnifer. That is the best i have come up with. Tends to fall off when working upside down. however.

I wear varifocals for everyday use but find my head magnifier in conjunction with a strong bench mounted lamp work fine for me. I avoid working under the baseboard whenever I can and prefer to upend tbe board and work on it that way.
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician

Good light is your friend. As an N gauger since 1974, I use a window, room light, angle pose light and torch suitably positioned for the fiddly bits.

If and when we are allowed out to our model shops and we get another digital day I shall ask the man who comes with the magnifying aids to try the snorkel mask type that go over your glasses. I forget the name at present - like I forget most things these days if I don’t write it down.

I do a lot of fine scale electronic work.
A pair of 2.5 reading glasses turn the close up blurr into a sharp image for me.
If needed I then use a x20 magnifying glass.
