Tomix Track Cleaner conversion to DCC

#1

Post by airfix27ra »

Hi All.

Just a quick question about decoders.
My Tomix is N Gauge.
I need a right angle bent decoder to fit the Tomix.
Bachmann do one, the 35-556RA.
I believe that this decoder has the pins bent in the wrong direction.
Can anyone confirm if this is true, or is this decoder OK to use.

Thanks
Stuart

Would a cabled 6 pin decoder resolve the matter

i.e. the ESU Lokpilot micro with a 6 pin plug attched by wires
https://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/products/e ... 6pin-wired

or as I presume functions are that not important for the track cleaner the Hornby R7150 decoder on a 6 pin cable

Do Tomix recommend a decoder.

There is another decoder made with bent pins and they go the other way so should do what you want. not sure of the make, its German I think ;)

If you are handy with a soldering iron you could heat the pins and push them through the PCB so they come out the other side, that should allow the decoder to fit, don't do that if you are not comfortable doing that sort of soldering, otherwise it will only end in tears

Mine was pre DCC ready so the decoder installation was different to what it is now

It also had a repaint

Hi all.

OK, I got a Lok Pilot 5 micro angled from Costal DCC, what a really nice company,
Very helpful and knowledgeable. I said what I wanted the decoder for and hey
presto they provided the right one, sent 1st class post.
The whole job was over and done in around 10 mins.
The Tomix works fine.
