Looking for advice on turntables
Looking for advice on turntables
Hi, I'm looking for advice on a motorised OO gauge turntable.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Looking for advice on turntables
Depends on budget as there are some very expensive self indexing ones out there but personally I have the Peco kit fitted with a Locomotec motor. Does the job.
"Not very stable, but incredibly versatile."

Hi
As Steve M says it depends on your budget and also scale you model in.
In OO/HO there is the self indexing Fleischmann 6152 at around £400 or the Heljan TT costing around £210 right down to the basic finger operated Dapol C001 kit for around £7.50

Budget is not a problem, so which would be the best based on that?

I had exactly the same as Steve. The motor is a beautiful piece of kit.
Nurse, the screens!

In that case I would go with the Heljan in OO... Example... https://www.hattons.co.uk/53242/heljan_ ... etail.aspx

Look at Frateschi, operates beautifully, not as big as many others. Simple to make DCC, and reasonably priced.

Re: Looking for advice on turntables
I have the same set-up as Steve M and WTD - a realistic looking and very silent in operation. You have to line-up by eye, which I don't find a problem, but if the turntables (I have two) were further away it might be. I use a H&M Clipper (ebay purchase) to power both turntables.
Re: Looking for advice on turntables
If you are handy with a soldering iron it might be worth looking at the MERG fully indexing setup, I use it on a Peco Turntable and it works faultlessly.
Cost about £85 for the kits and motor and gearbox. Plus cost of turntable.
