For the railway modeller who has everything!!!!!!

I see that DCC Concepts are now selling gold plated track pins :o I cannot see that they improve your track laying - in fact I can't see what advantage they could possibly have. So if you were thinking of buying shares as an investment, may be gold plated track pins would be a better way of investing your money (JOKE!)

I think the idea of plating them is to enable easier soldering where these pins are used on their working point rodding or as rail fixings etc? They are not solid gold and at around £3.95 pack of 100 wont get rich either!

I could understand if the track connectors were gold plated as gold is an excellent conductor of electricity but track pins???

They should have made them their corporate blue, that way they could have charged double that, everything DCC concepts blue is double the price or more than non blue alternatives. ;)

Reminds me of the old Black Adder sketch when they whilst trying to make gold created pure Green, but in this case the DCC concepts Alcamist created pure blue the most expensive product known to the modelling world 8-)

Adds another dimension to the track fixing debate - glue, pins, screws or precious metals? ;)
Maybe someone will start producing ballast that includes rubies and diamonds for some extra bling?

In the good old US ofA the last spike driven in when the railroad was completed was always golden, maybe the pins are for the day when all our layouts are finished.
Don’t think I will be getting any for many a year yet.
