Today's first photo will probably be the last where the coaling tower breaks all health and safety rules by not having railings. Since I took this photo, I've added the railings and the ladder. Hopefully, I'll take some new photos soon to showcase this. The level crossings certainly seem to be finding their way into my photos recently.

Since these were taken, I have reinstated the scrap in the scrapyard in the foreground. I freely admit that I 'borrowed' the scrapyard idea from Glencairn. I came across the ambulance in my box of boyhood cars and couldn't resist putting it onto the layout. It's another tight squeeze and I think the little scene needs a bit of working up. Maybe another ambulance man and a few concerned (or just curious) bystanders. And perhaps a broken and buckled bicycle, as there isn't room for a couple of crashed cars. I wonder where I can get a broken bike in 1/76 scale.

Further to yesterday's post, I've worked up the scene a little. Close inspection will reveal that the bike got away with it unscathed, but the poor old cyclist has suffered a head injury. I wonder what the policeman is saying to the motorist.

As I've been spending a lot of time working up the scenic features, I thought I'd take some photos focusing on those rather than the trains. The first photo could be called 'Thanks to Glencairn' for the scrapyard inspiration. I think that the house next to the scrapyard is too new, modern and Central European looking. I imagine that Steptoe and son live in a grimy old British brick house, so this will need changing at some point The third photo shows clearly my poor construction of the bridge. Notice how the railings bow inwards. This is due to some badly placed wooden supports that I put under the card of the walkway. Thankfully, from most other angles this bowing is not apparent. The bus shelter in the last photo is a Hornby readymade. A very well made and painted piece, in my opinion.

Yes, it's busy. As well as the trains, there're a lot of figures, which IMO give it a feeling of action even though most of them are in stationary poses.

Many thanks for your kind offer but I'll probably buy a few more next time I put in an order. There are 12 bikes on the layout already although six of these are glued into the two bike racks. My favourite bike is being held by a postman, but they also look good just propped up against random walls. None of them seem to be chained to anything, so we can conclude that Shankly is a low crime area. As we are talking bikes, today's photos include the two bike racks although you'll have to look closely at the centre of the second picture to see that one.
