That exhibition was the tipping point that made me decide it was time to have a go at building my own layout, although I doubt I'll ever get near the standard of some of the layouts on show.
Remember, most of those layouts have a few people building them and/or have taken a long time to build.
The step is starting.
Learn from others. Do not copy (it does not work) but adapt.
Any mistakes (there will be) do not 'beat yourself up', but learn from them.
Get something running. Then build on.
Have fun. It is a hobby. There is no race; just a winner (you).
