Mimic Boards
Mimic Boards
Well, I took the plunge and am making my own mimic board using 2.5 by 1.0 cm soft wood from B&Q and some 3mm hardboard I had hanging around.
I made the track plan on light coloured graph paper, added the lines with black felt tip, printed the numbers and cut them out and stuck them on the paper with Pritt. I then photocopied the whole, tippexed out shadows and other extraneous marks, photocopied it again and then laminated the final result.
Now I have to stick the plan to the surface and drill the holes for the LEDs and switches.

Re: Mimic Boards
That looks very good.
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician

looking good.
Do take it careful when drilling holes as its all too easy to tear the paper or laminations, I speak from previous experience and have the Tee Shirt too

Re: Mimic Boards
It works, and all the points and crossings routes are aligned with the mimic board lights.
For those interested I’ve been using Cobalt iP Analog and Omega Switch pack with LEDs.

Re: Mimic Boards
That is looking good. I need to get around to a mimic board sooner or later. In previous layouts I used the 'electric pencil' type of control and never bothered with LEDs, but I will probably go for the LEDs this time.
