With all that I don't think you need a Ring. I have considered getting one, but think I would get a CCTV first. I am a member of our local 'nextdoor.co.uk' group and a few people have posted videos of suspicious characters they have recorded on their Ring doorbell. The video resolution is surprisingly good and you do get an eye level image, unlike a high mounted CCTV camera.bulleidboy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 1:00 pm we have CCTV, three cameras, which give full HD colour pictures of the front of the house, the drive and the back of the house/garden. These are hard-wired to a mini VCR and screen.

A good trick is to put up a couple off "These premises are protected by CCTV" signs. No cameras just signs. We had a dummy alarm box at our last house.darkscot wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 6:52 pmWith all that I don't think you need a Ring. I have considered getting one, but think I would get a CCTV first. Good idea TWD, you can get fake boxes and cameras with flashing LEDs.
Nurse, the screens!

Out here in the sticks, a large dog and equally large 12 bore seems to do the trick.
Re: "RING" Doorbell - Any good??
I'm impressed that your dog can use the 12 bore

I find answering the door wearing my work clothes is enough.

Tony Martin, he's been out of jail a few years now, in fact we met him at the Bernie Arms pub (now closed) near RAF Marham. He came over to our table and spoke to us lol.

Real CCTV cameras are so cheap now it is hardly worth doing this. If you are going to go to the bother of fitting a fake camera, you may as well spend another £10-£20 and fit a real one.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 7:00 pm Good idea TWD, you can get fake boxes and cameras with flashing LEDs.
