Scrumpy Junction
Re: Scrumpy Junction
Progress of sorts... Decided on one last go with point motors, which are now all in-situ. I couldn't get on with trying to solder the PECO switches, found these ready-wired ones which are now all connected up. If it works - when I get a new transformer - it's rock and roll. If not the wire in tube thing.

Hi Bandit Mick, I'm keen on this means of point control. Please can you advise where you source your wires and tubes. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.Bandit Mick wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 11:39 pm I’ve used wire in tube - easy effective and cheap. Plus, there’s something about actually doing something ‘mechanical’. Good luck with the solution you decide upon.

Best place for wire and tube bits is a model shop that specialises in RC aircraft stuff.twalton1145 wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 11:48 pmHi Bandit Mick, I'm keen on this means of point control. Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician

They have all the stuff you need here.... https://anticsonline.uk/Category/MerControl_N1587
Sorry I'm late but I couldn't get my flip-flops to work
Re: Scrumpy Junction
Cheers for that - wish I'd just gone down that road to start with now.
May do for the main station on the other side of the 'U' when I eventually get round that far.

Thanks for the link.cadman wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 12:02 pm They have all the stuff you need here.... https://anticsonline.uk/Category/MerControl_N1587
Just received the starter set - appears to be well made but much smaller than it looks online!
Yet to try it out so will let you know later.
Cheers,
Ted

Might change name to Champagne Junction.
Hooked up a new transformer and all the points work off the switch panel, trains head in and out like good 'uns.
Onwards and upwards. Might open this one first...

Haven't had much time for the last few weeks but I've now got one side of the 'U' all wired up and working after the Nice Man at the Model Shop (NMMS) relieved me of £139 for a Gaugemaster twin track, twin feed, keep the receipt this time so you can bring it back when you break it controller.
NMMS clearly does not think this is going to end well, despite the amount of track, kits, magazines and other sundries he's sold me.
Being a more optimistic kind of chap I'm now looking at the other side, which is going to have a bigger town type of station which will either be another terminus, or *loose lips sink layouts* through station if the builders can accidentally knock a hole through the wall into another room when they do some work on the house and my Long Term Life Partner does not get wind beforehand.
Either way it's going to be twin track, not sure I'll stick with the buildings, but the main station building will sit back in the alcove on the shelf to the right once things progress a bit, with some low-relief stuff to the rear of it.
