They not only have the RailRoad line they now have a RailRoad Plus line. So 3 different levels of detail. All with the same style of numbering. I agree, R3024 as a example of one loco, RR3024 for the same loco (maybe with a different name/loco number) for the RailRoad version. RR+3024 if it's in the RR plus range.

Railroad model is a different loco from the 0's hornby 2p effort. The Rialroad is based solely on the later tender drive and is no relation to that model. everything on it was new tools apart from drive and loco chassis with valve gear for this model which was shared in parts on the 'big 4 4-4-0s' that hornby made. Later on the compound as hornby called it was reworked for railroad with a loco drive dcc chassis. the other hornby 2p loco is a pass around from airfix/mainline/dapol and is now loco drive also
