Yeah I’ll check everything again tomorrow evening after work. I’m currently trying to pick apart tonight’s episode of Line of Duty so I’ll worry about it tomorrow.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted any updates. You’ll be pleased to hear the layout is coming on a treat and I have plenty of pics for you all below.
I do have one nagging problem though-stalling on points. These are the bullhead points by Peco so designed for DCC running. Something also seems to be catching which I think is a bit of plastic in the guard rail. The point is level and there isn’t any ballast stuck in it anywhere, but it’s lifting up all my locos causing them to stall. So I’ve gotta sort that tomorrow.
I’m also a little unhappy with the road surface I’ve put down. But I’ll be sanding that down over the weekend, to smooth it out.
I’ve also made a couple of purchases from The Model Centre over the past few months and I’ve used their weathering and DCC services. Needless to say they’ve done a wonderful job. I will say one of the orders took about 5 months to complete, but I think that’s related to the current pandemic. Anyway, I promised some pics so here they are.
That looks very good indeed! I find road surfaces very tricky to get right. My latest attempt involved grey paint mixed with very fine sand which turned out OK.

I’ve figured out why locos were stalling. The point wasn’t flat! I think maybe in the hot weather it’s become a little bent out of shape. So I’ve just tapped in a couple of pins to the outside of two of the sleepers and now there doesn’t seem to be any issues. Was a little worried I’d need to rip the point out, but all is well.
