I believe the Aussie ones are descended from camels used by early explorers and then released.
They obviously breed like, well, camels. :D

Camels are big beasts, even the Outback Truckers are wary of them. (You can see them on the TV series, Outback Truckers quite frequently). They're also quite wary of the wild cattle and kangaroos!

I think everyone in Australia is wary of every everything! Never mind the the fauna, they have a tree that if you touch it's leaves you itch for six months!
