I wonder how many palms were greased in order for it to end up in that country. Will we find out how many deaths it took to build the stadiums given the poor health and safety record of the country involved. And all for 22 overpaid individuals to kick a bit of dead cow around a field for 90 minutes whilst ‘fans’ show their appreciation by jeering the opposing team.

Surely no one could not like the Jonny Bairstow innings last week. That was great for thousands of people who watched it for nothing. And Alonso, second place on the grid today. Thats the kind of sport, i like. With so many repeats on our tv screens, these two performances, live, were both kinda special.

Totally agree John, plenty types of sport (or non-sport if that's what you want) available. It just really iritates me when a few on here keep criticising football at every opportunity.

Fell free to criticise something if you wish TWD. The only sport I like is cricket but that isn’t shown on free TV, that is why I get a bit annoyed with football being on the BBC. With any TV sport it is the experts at the start and end babbling on that annoys me. That is also the same with things like Trooping the Colour, endless chat when I just want to watch and listen to the ceremony. :)

Be cautious chaps, there are a few posts stating to get a bit OTT with your comments. While this is the 'Mess Room' please be polite to everyone. What you may like or dislike, someone else may well have very different views on!

My mum used to say "If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything". I guess the equivalent on platforms like these is "If you can't say anything nice/positive then keep your fingers away from the keyboard" :D

Many things are criticised on here, DCC, sound (I’ve been known to have words about that), DC, motor racing, bus service and electric cars to name but a few, but the only one that gets really heated is football. Terry is right about that, maybe we should ban discussion on the subject or give it a special section. :)

I don't have any interest in sport.
Never cared about who is winning, what the score is, who has the most points, who is in, who is out, what the odds are, who is the fastest, who is first best... it never mattered.
At school when made to play football, if the ball came towards me I moved out of the way and let whoever wanted it more have it.
Just never been competitive.

Should have said John, brilliant result for Alonso. Loved his post quali interview, something like he will be watching for Max in his mirrors when he gets to first corner :D . Great champ, would love to see him back in a Ferrari or a Red Bull.
