Reopening "Why don't they make?"...

#1

Post by Englishbob »

From the cheap-seats...(All will become apparent if you read on...). I am returning after 55 years. From the days of "Hornby super 4". I am at the planning/drafting/drawing stage of a DC, 9.5 metre, end-to-end layout, in OO. I will be using Peco code 100 with electrofrogs. My question is..."Why don't they make a code 100, electrofrog double-slip?" There may be a perfectly simple explanation. After all, I freely admit to being below-novice at all this!
Oh, and be warned...I have several hundred other dumb-questions!!!

The dumbest question is the one you didn’t ask. Plenty on here will offer answers to all and any question.
As for the doubleslip, don’t worry about the lack of an electrofrog version, just use the insulfrog - it’s what I have done on both my layouts. It works perfectly well.

Why don't they make a "Drive through" wheel cleaning device that will clean loco and rolling stock wheels so one simply drives slowly through a device and out the other end?

Mountain Goat, I thought you were looking for a “drive through” vehicle cleaner, what you have a link to there is a track cleaner. Is that what you want? R-

Now that is more like it as it cleans unpowered wheels as well and is "Drive on-Drive off". Not sure if its price is justified as £200 is a lot if it turns out to be more of a gimik than a long lasting functioning item so time will tell which is why personal reviews are handy. If it is long lasting and reliable then the £200 price tag is worth paying out for the hours of work it saves in manual wheel cleaning!
I like it a lot! :D
