Re the BR Intercity to Virgin, I seem to remember this taking a few years, so there would be Class 47/86/87/90 in a mixture of Intercity/Virgin liveries with similarly mixed stock. Ditto HSTs across all regions. I would say from 96 to about 01 covers this period.

Project Rio also provided some weird and wonderful combinations, see the picture attached, a FGW and original MML power car with a 'new' MML coach and Virgin coaches.

As for freight, EWS quickly reliveried locos from 96 then seemed to give up, so well into the noughties right to the end of the decade there were old BR liveries in every day use.

Loads of oppotunity for mix and match
