You mentioned your grandchildren. Is the good thing about older trains in that they will take a few knocks. Doubt some of todays finely detailed trains would do that, but is understandable as tiny details can be vunerable.
Lima and Hornby (Going back a couple of decades) were good for that as they made them with young and old in mind.
Some modern models I dare not touch and I am an adult! Marvel at the detail though.
Yes MG the older models are more robust. Because they are, the grandchildren are not 'frightened' to handle them.

He has always liked the Clarence Dock area. Moving trucks around. Now he has his own controller (when he visits) I do not have to watch over him. He loves it.

It's good to see the young ones taking an interest in the hobby. Nothing wrong with computer game etc but I do think you can't beat the hands on experience of making and playing with models.

The grandchildren have ran trains on the layout since they were three years of age. Yes things did go wrong, but now they appreciate it more now. They run trains at a more realistic speed and shunt wagons with a purpose. Still their way mind you.

The Engineers coach was a winning bid on 'fleabay'. I should remove 'Cowlairs' off it. Just another job on the list.
The crane is another from 'fleabay'. A 45t crane in HO from Austrian company Kleinbahn.
End of the line at Clarence Dock. Clarence Dock was renamed Leeds Dock and is now 'a place to be seen'. Apparently there is a television studios there now and amongst other programmes 'Steph's Packed Lunch is filmed there daily throughout the week.

Excellent image. Pure and utter grime, which, strangely, I find rather artistic. Henley's canal side will have been freshly scrubbed by legions of washer women, however.

Thanks once again, Chops. As for the dock? 'An overnight rainfall' dampens the scene.
Class 56 56035 on its way to Clarence Dock. The Coach and Horses Inn has seen better days. Still it is 'over 150 years old'.
