Hello from someone returning to the hobby after 20 yrs!

Hi all,

I last had a 'train set' when I was 13 or 14 when if was replaced by rc cars, motorbikes, cars and ultimately girls! I've been waiting all this time for an excuse to have another, low and below just over 2 years ago the perfect excuse appeared in the form of my son! He loves Thomas so for Xmas I'm making him a 6(and a bit)'x4 layout for him (read as US!!) to play with.

Its been a long time since I did anything with model railways so I'm sure there'll be some stupid questions asked, but hopefully at some point I'll be able to reciprocate any help I get with answers to something, all I know much about thought is electrics and fixing boats but ask away!

Looking for forward to having some fun as my boy grows up and developing the layout from what is going to be a plain board into hopefully something we have built together.

Welcome to the forum Gareth.

Funny how things turn around. I also did the train set, rc cars, motorbikes and then girls. Not strictly in that order. Now it's all in reverse.
Married - so no more girls  Sold the motorbike, bored of cars, thank heavens for model railways :D

Have fun doing this with your son.
